   PRODUCT OVERVIEW

GREY CEMENT

Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) is one of the most used materials on the planet. A general-purpose cement is suitable for all uses where the special properties of other types are not required. It is used where cement or concrete is not subject to specific exposures, such as sulfate attack from soil or water, or to an objectionable temperature rise due to heat generated by hydration (reaction with water). Cement is mixed with various ratios of aggregates and sand to make concrete, screeds, grouts and renders.

WHITE CEMENT

Much like OPC white cement is used for its aesthetics, due to its whiteness, it finds its application in architectural beauty, interior and exterior decorations, floorings, ornamental concrete products, glass reinforced concrete, tiles, brick products and tiling grouts while grey cement is mostly used for ‘basic’ construction purposes.  The whiteness is a consequence of the raw materials and production process.

PFA’s

Fly ash, also known as pulverised fuel ash (PFA) is the ash resulting from the burning of pulverised coal in coal-fired electricity power stations. The ash is very fine and it is removed from the flue gases by electrostatic precipitators.

GGBS

GGBS is a by-product of the iron and steel industry. In the blast furnace, slag floats to the top of the iron and is removed. GGBS is produced by quenching the molten slag in water and then grinding it into a fine powder.

Chemically it is similar to but less reactive than Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC).

BLENDING

The combination of any cementitious powder to a specific customer ratio, whether it be OPC and GGBS, Lime and PFA or any variation of these – and more, silica fume, bentonite.  Receiving a pre-blend of materials ensures minimal disruption to existing silos on sites and reduces the number of silos required for specific projects.

LIME

Calcium oxide (CaO), commonly known as quicklime or burnt lime, is a widely used chemical compound. It is a white, caustic, alkaline, crystalline solid at room temperature. The broadly used term “lime” relates to calcium-containing inorganic materials, in which carbonates, oxides and hydroxides of calcium, silicon, magnesium, aluminium, and iron predominate.

HOFFMANN GREEN

Hoffmann Green supply Cemblend with its H-IONA, H-UKR and H-EVA clinker-free decarbonated cement for distribution to its customers in the UK and Ireland. Hoffmann Green’s purpose is to act on the climate and the environment in a different way and right now, by designing and producing decarbonated cement 0% clinker

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you operate in 'my' area?

We may not have a facility in your immediate locale, but we operate across the UK and Ireland to provide our products and services

Can you blend a small volume for our project?

Yes, we can blend to any volume requirement and provide products in bulk, bulk bags (FIBC’s), or smaller packaging requirements, 25kg, 20kg or similar

What is the lead time?

Anything from a few hours to a few days is the usual response – obviously it depends on the product and the constituent materials, if in doubt please give the team a call and we can give you a current lead time

Whats the CO2e for your products?

This depends on the product itself.  We are often asked for EPD certificates for the products, but often as bespoke blends, these are not readily available.  We hold information on all the products we use, and are happy to calculate an estimate on the relevant CO2e for the blends.  We also use industry guidance (MPA Fact Sheet 18) to assist with estimates for CO2e calculations

Can you blend our specific requirements?

The answer is probably yes, talk to us and find out.  We blend multiple powders together in various ratios and volumes.  If we can’t we will know someone who can and we will help you get it done

Can you supply in bulk bags?

Yes – Bulk bags, plastic packs, paper sacks, tubs or bulk tankers

Do you supply over the weekend?

Yes – with enough notice we can provide deliveries over weekends, overnight – whenever you need it

How do I apply for an account?

Give us a call – or send us an email, let us know what products you need, what sort of volume you think you will require and we will take it from there

Do you supply concrete?

No – but we know plenty of people that do – so if you need some assistance give us a call and we will do our best to help

DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION?

If you have a question or or would like more information, we would love to hear from you
